Frequently Asked Questions
How does Golden Breath differ from other styles?
Golden Breath American Tai Chi, like other styles, promotes good body mechanics, balance, health and well being. It differs from many Tai Chi Systems in that it emphasizes the coordination of the body movement (the Tai Chi Choreography) with the breath. This is a conscious process. This skill is taught immediately from day one. For example, "Breath in through the nose as you raise arms and breath out through the mouth as you lower the arms". Some other Tai Chi systems teach the choreography first and then at a later time discuss the aspects of breath as a secondary process. Golden Breath also utilizes higher stances as a general rule compared to some Tai Chi systems emphasize lower stances. Golden Breath can even be done in a chair if desired or an individual has a physical limitation. This is true because Golden Breath Tai Chi teaches breath control.
How much do I need to learn before I start getting benefits from this practice?
Just one movement can begin the restoration process... right from the start, the simple but powerful breathing technique and slow, fluid movements begin to spread their positive influence.
How often do I need to practice to improve my health?
The very minimum is at least once a day for a few minutes. The optimum recommendation in the early movements is two to three times a day for a few minutes. This is a great way to empty out all the stress that accumulates during the day.
Does Golden Breath conflict with practicing meditation or martial arts?
Golden Breath will not conflict with other practices any more than saying your prayers would. Most likely, it will augment anything else that one practices, either through the way it enhances breathing or the way it enhances movement coordination.
Are Instructors and Certified Teachers of Golden Breath different?
Certified teachers may teach Golden Breath at any location. Instructors are Senior Students that may teach Golden Breath at designated locations with SiBok's approval. (Legalese: Golden Breath is not liable for any instructor's teaching.)
